Posted Monday, March 23, 2026

The Town of Waterbury staff and volunteers are saddened to learn of the passing of former Recreation Director Nick Nadeau, who served the town from 2018 to 2022. At the time of his passing, Nick was serving as Town Manager in Skowhegan, Maine.

“Nick’s boundless energy and enthusiasm were trademarks of his time here,” said Bill Woodruff, Interim Municipal Manager. “Whether playing a game of knockout basketball with campers or attending a budget meeting, he gave his full focus and attention to the task at hand.”

During his tenure leading the Waterbury Recreation Department, Nick was recognized by the State of Vermont with the 2021 Spirit of ADA Award from the Governor’s Committee on the Employment of People with Disabilities. In 2022, he also received the Governor’s Rays of Kindness Award for his acts of service, goodwill, and kindness.

The Town of Waterbury extends its condolences to Nick’s family and loved ones, as well as to the communities of Fairfax, Vermont, where he grew up and served as interim Town Manager, and Skowhegan, Maine.

“Nick will be remembered for the lasting impact he made on our town and in our lives,” Woodruff added. “His commitment to making the Waterbury community a special place will not be forgotten.”

The Town will share information about services and opportunities to send condolences as it becomes available.
