Green Up Day is the first Saturday in May every year. This year it’s Saturday, May 2. To participate in Green Up in Waterbury, please check out and use the Waterbury Green Up signup online at tinyurl.com/WaterburyGreenUp2026.

Some key details (CORRECTED):

  • Bags are now available at the town office and can also be picked up at Rodney's Transfer Station on River Road near the Ice Center (available by Saturday, April 18).
  • Decide where you would like to Green Up and mark it on the signup.
  • Bring filled bags on Green Up Day to the Town Garage, 1707 Guptil Road, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. OR to Rodney's on Friday, May 1, before 4 p.m., or on Saturday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Please, DO NOT leave bags on roadsides.

(More details about metal, tires, tips, etc. are on the online signup.)

SOME HELP IS NEEDED beyond just Greening Up. Please email if you could help with these Green Up tasks:

  • Would your youth group, team, organization, etc. be able to take the bottles and cans collected on Green Up Day to redeem (and keep the $)? One catch: They need rinsing before redeeming. We usually collect at least one pickup-truck load, sometimes more.
  • Can you volunteer on Green Up Day at one of the drop-off locations to assist with unloading, keeping track, etc.?

Waterbury always looks great after Green Up.
Thanks in advance to everyone who gets out to Green Up this year!
