The Town of Waterbury Will Hold a Public Hearing on April 2, 2018

A public hearing will be held at the Waterbury Municipal Center, 28 North Main Street, Steele Community Room on April 2, 2018 at 6:45pm to obtain the views of citizens on community development, to furnish information concerning the amount of funds available and the range of community development activities that may be undertaken under this program, the impact to any historic and archaeological resources that may be affected by the proposed project, and to give affected citizens the opportunity to examine the proposed statement of projected use of these funds. The proposal is to apply for $45,000 in VCDP Funds which will be used to accomplish the following activities:

The Town of Waterbury will be applying for VCDP planning funds to conduct a feasibility study for a community center that would provide enhanced, expanded and new opportunities for an inter-generational, multi-functional facility.  A recent Waterbury Visioning Summit sponsored by Revitalizing Waterbury in January, 2018 indicated a desire to have space and programs available for seniors, children, teens, adults and families.  The Waterbury Recreation Program, Revitalizing Waterbury, Waterbury Senior Center and The Children's Room are active partners in this application.  The feasibility study will include: priorities for types of services and activities, other potential partners, estimated program usage, estimated scope and cost of a facility, potential suitable locations with a priority for existing municipal property, a cash flow analysis for operating expenses, projected timeline and possible sources of grant funds and capital campaign strategy to help implement the project.

Copies of the proposed application are available at the Waterbury Municipal Offices and may be viewed during the hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm beginning March 15.  Should you require any special accommodations, please contact Carla Lawrence, Town Clerk at 802-244-8447 to ensure appropriate accommodations are made.
