Fire & Rescue
Waterbury
has two volunteer fire stations. The Village station has
twenty-five (25) members. The Waterbury Center station
has twenty (20) members. The departments are members of
the Capital Fire Mutual Aid System. In addition, informal
assistance arrangements may be implemented with other surrounding
towns when needed. The departments maintain pre-fire plans
for all major industrial and commercial facilities that
identify the location of flammable combustible and toxic
materials. Rapid and coordinated response is essential
to the saving of lives and the minimization of incident
effects. This is achieved by maintaining a high level of
training in all department members so that no individual
is indispensable to the response. Pagers are worn by all
department members. Responsibilities include Search and
rescue; Firefighting; and Warning the public when evacuation
is required.
